For those who read my weekly emails, you know my mother-in-law died last week. The
death of a loved one has been distant for me. It has always happened to someone far
away, and I have not had to experience it firsthand. See how it affects me, how it affects
those closest to me. We all deal with grief differently. I have looked for words of
inspiration. Something to help me understand the age-old question, “why?”
I spoke to spiritual leaders, friends, and relatives. Not liking any of those answers, I
asked Dr. Google. I still need to find answers to my question; maybe there isn’t one
answer in this life. But I found a meaningful passage, even though it has nothing to do
with grief but more an affirmation of life.

This is a quote from Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson:
Our deeds are the medicine by which the world heals itself.
It’s not size and quantity that matters.
Only one small, good deed and everything could fall in place.
Which deed will that be?
It could be any one.
Whatever you can do, do it believing that this is the one to tip the scales.
We may not be able to answer the “why,” but we can all do one good deed.
I wish you and your family health and happiness this holiday season.
